eWaste Donation - getting Railroad Days Back on Track! - SEP 2018

Looks like the "Big Check" was out and about last month! It seemed to make it's way over to the Sierra Vista Community Center where the Railroad Days Fundraiser was being held. This fundraiser, and the "Big Check", did help get September's Railroad Days celebration "back on track", so to speak. We want to thank our community for their contributions of E-Waste which makes these donations possible. Please keep them coming.

eWaste Donation - to 2 Groups in One Night! - May 2018

We once again we're so glad to have turned our e-waste donations into valuable dollars for our community. We attended 2 great functions here in Colfax last Friday & Saturday nights and were pleased to donate $600.00 to each one - $1,200 total. Wow! What a great time we had at the Colfax Elementary School Annual Spring Fling. There was food & drinks, reptiles, a photo booth and a lot of happy dancing kids. Great job Colfax APT! We then attended the Chocolate & Wine Indulgence on Saturday night at the Sierra Vista Community Center where there were plenty of artists with their great artwork on display for raffle and sale. We had wonderful conversations with them and sampled a lot of great desserts, cheeses and of course the wine. We can't wait till next year for either one of these events. And remember with your eWaste donations of all those televisions and computers we can keep the dollar donations going. Thanks, Colfax for your Support.

eWaste funds benefit local non-profits! Fall Festival Donation - 2013 (excerpted from the Colfax Record, OCT 31, 2013)

Colfax Elementary School’s Association of Parents and Teachers chose the night of the school’s annual Fall Festival to show their appreciation to Sierra Self Storage for the Colfax company’s support of the organization.

At the Halloween event on Oct. 25, Gordon Goodrich, general manager of Sierra Self Storage, presented the APT a check for $807.19, monies collected through an ongoing electronic waste-recycling program. “We’re very proud that we were able to make such a donation,” Goodrich said.

According to Goodrich, “In May, we donated a 10-foot-by-20-foot unit sized specifically for e-waste drop-off. We contract with a nationally recognized firm to recycle the e-waste with the intent of donating those proceeds several times a year to local charities. … This was new to me and a new vision for Sierra Self Storage.”

The Colfax Elementary-APT is the first beneficiary of the recycling program. Mike Divine, the organization’s president, was on hand Friday night to accept the check. He calls the donation “a great thing,” and appreciates the support of Sierra Self Storage. They’re “always helping out the community and we’re very grateful that they can help us,” Divine said. According to Divine, who also serves on the board for the Colfax Junior Falcons, Sierra Self Storage helps the Jr. Falcon teams by supplying two units for the storage of sports equipment.

Goodrich said the electronic waste collection is an ongoing free service offered to the community, available during office hours at 160 Sherwood Court, off South Auburn Street. No appointment is necessary. Electronic waste accepted includes computer equipment, CRT waste such as televisions, and video and audio equipment.

“It’s our intent for it to be a local charity and one involving local kids. It’s a long-term commitment; we have no intention of ever ceasing.” Goodrich said.
